The researcher as unreliable narrator: writing sociological crime fiction as a research method

چکیده
Whilst works of art, including fiction, are well established as legitimate objects sociological analysis, and the narratives crafted by subjects social research widely understood to be meaningful, use creative writing a methodology is still quite novel within law sciences. In this article, I seek demonstrate how practice process creating fiction can extend aesthetic, affective, ontological possibilities research. Further, argue that it offers model for working ethically creatively with others poststructuralist theoretical framework. will do reflecting on creation series crime fictions, written between 2015 2017. discuss approach developed in response concerns about people who had experienced criminalization stigma, drawing Carolyn Steedman’s concept ‘enforced narratives’. then survey some contemporary trends earlier feminist experimental approaches research, which have inspired my approach. Using one own an example, these composed, conceptualization ‘translation’ actor–network theory. hope carefully experience justice system make might help us reimagine re-present complex processes punishment, form travel beyond science audiences enrich law.
